Biography

Brett Izsa has received wide acclaim as a musician and is regarded as a versatile and dynamic artist. With training in conducting, piano, voice, guitar, and viola, Mr. Izsa brings a multifaceted skill set to his work as a conductor, performer, and educator. Recognized for his poise, musicianship, and artistry, he is an integral presence in numerous ensembles, productions, and creative projects.

Mr. Izsa currently serves as Director of Orchestral Activities for the Morris Hills Regional School District, where he leads the Morris Hills Regional Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, and String Ensemble. He also teaches courses in piano, music theory, musical theatre, and technical theatre at the Academy for Performing Arts at Morris Knolls. Under his direction, district ensembles are regularly featured at conferences, community events, and public performances. The Morris Hills Regional School District has been recognized as one of the NAMM Foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Izsa maintains an active performing career. A multifaceted artist, he performs as a vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist with the eight-piece band From Jersey With Love, serving the New York metropolitan area. On Sundays, he can be found at the organ and piano as Director of Music Ministries at Denville Community Church.

A strong advocate for the advancement and accessibility of the arts, Mr. Izsa has played key roles in organizations dedicated to arts education, including the Cultural Fusion Initiative. He is a co-founder of the Morris Regional Performing Arts Company. He is featured as associate producer and associate conductor in Tunde Kelani’s 2025 film Cordelia, and as associate producer and artist on Mark Hagerty’s Grammy-nominated album United Sounds of America.

From 2016 to 2021, Mr. Izsa served on the Music Staff of Newark United Methodist Church, where he worked with choirs, assisted choral music education interns, coordinated with the University of Delaware’s Music Department, and helped lead summer music camps and fundraising initiatives. He also previously served as Director of Choral Activities at Westwood Regional Middle School, directing over 300 students across three curricular choirs, conducting the award-winning Cardinal Chorus, and serving as Music Director for the annual spring musical. During his tenure, the district was recognized as a NAMM Foundation Best Community for Music Education.

Mr. Izsa earned his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University, his Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Delaware, and his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware. He has studied with esteemed instructors, including Maestros James Allen Anderson, Ted Sperling, Duane Cottrell, Richard Bjella, and Edith Copley; soprano Melanie DeMent; tenor Kenneth Bryson; and pianists Carol and Gustave Ferri. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education at Boston University. Active across all these fields, Mr. Izsa continues to perform as a conductor, collaborative pianist, and singer, having appeared on concert stages throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
